We asked Taylor an 11 year old what she thought about Earth Hour & she told us that she is concerned that the world will not be able to live without lights on for even one hour because most people last year didn't get involved. Taylor hopes that more people will participate this year & enjoy an activity like star gazing or relaxing with some candles on. She is going to spend the evening with her family watching the stars & she hopes that everyone in her area has the lights off so she can see the stars without the light polution! We asked her to find some information on Earth hour & here is what she found:
March 28, 2009 at 8:30pm tens of millions of people in hundreds of cities around the world will come together once again to make a bold statement about their concern about climate change by doing something very simple--- turning off their lights for one hour. Earth Hour symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in the fight against climate change. Participating sends a message that we care about this issue and stands with the rest of the world in seeking to find solutions to the escalating climate crisis.
Lets all get real here & turn off our lights! Even if we don't think it makes a difference it is one of the easiest things to do. Really what's so bad about spending an hour without lights? There are hundreds of things a person can do in an hour without lights!
Hmm maybe we need a list of things?
Any ideas?
